As the United States approaches another presidential election cycle, questions start to be thrown out as to how accurate the results of elections are at reflecting the opinion of the general population. Much was deservedly made over the historical election of President Barack Obama as the first African-American to be elected to the country’s highest office in 2008. Yet exit polling done that same year showed that less than 9 percent of those surveyed claimed race was overriding factor in their decisions. If that represents a general opinion, than is it possible that in 2016, we could see another historical milestone with the election of the first Latino president?
