The assumption that soccer is a Latino sport is ignoring the majority of the world’s sport preferences. This stereotype largely comes from the fact that soccer caught on so late in the in the US. Today soccer is still slightly more popular in Mexico than it is in the US but the gap is quickly closing. An estimated 30% of American households are actively involved in the sport.
